HENLEY MP John Howell is opposing South Oxfordshire District Council over a proposal to rename his Henley constituency as South-East Oxfordshire.
The proposal was put forward to the Boundary Commission as part of its consultation on revised constituency boundaries.
Mr Howell said it would be “defying history” to lose the Henley name.
A final decision on the changes will be made in 2013.
