EAST Challow residents have urged council bosses to make a decision on a controversial plan for 50 homes.

Vale of White Horse District Council had set itself a deadline of August 15 to rule on the plan for land by Windmill Place.

Bovis Homes put in a planning application for the development in February but no decision has been made.

A Vale spokeswoman said Bovis was reviewing its proposals to try to address concerns which were raised in the public consultation.

Villager Luke Allen, who has led a campaign against the plans, said: “The decision should have been no and it should have been made months ago. If it has taken this long to decide it can’t be a good idea. The few months have been very difficult, stressful and upsetting for residents.”

The site was taken out of the council’s draft local plan of where major estates will go to 2031 in September. It was earmarked for 200 homes.

In March more than 230 East Challow resident signed a petition opposing the estate.

Bovis spokesman Scott Curtis said: “The proposals have followed the required planning processes and have evolved following consultation from the community, environmental and transport specialists and other stakeholders.”
