THE DEVELOPER behind the proposed £100m regeneration of Botley has submitted new amended plans to the Vale of White Horse District Council.

A new consultation period has begun as a result and people have until Tuesday, November 20 to submit comments on the changes.

The proposals are now scheduled to go before planning committee on Wednesday, December 3.

Doric Properties and joint partner Mace have set up a shop window display in the former Tong San Cantonese restaurant in the West Way shopping centre.

They have released a video, in the shop window and online, detailing previous plans submitted in September, from a pedestrian’s point of view. Doric and Mace want to demolish Field House sheltered housing, Elms Parade shops, the vicarage, and Elms Court office block to build a supermarket, cinema, gym, health centre, shops, 50 flats and 525 student rooms.

Chris Church, co-chairman of West Way Community Concern, said: “When Doric released their last set of changed plans, we said that these changes were confusing and cosmetic. Now, only two months later, they are at it again, with yet more changes. Every time they claim their plans are wonderful, and every time they have to change them.”

Doric and Mace were unable to comment.
