ELDERLY residents gathered for a Christmas lunch at the Bay Tree pub, in Grove.

The residents from local sheltered housing schemes and the local community enjoyed a three-course lunch at Tuesday’s event organised by Age UK Oxfordshire.

There were also gifts from Santa, a raffle provided by Wantage firm Croyd Medical and Richmond Homes, which owns the Letcombe Regis retirement complex.

The Bluenotes band from Millbrook Primary School entertained the pensioners.

Laura Freeth, 50, a community information networker for Age UK Oxfordshire, based in Abingdon, said: “It was a complete success and I’ve had some really lovely emails from people who said they really enjoyed the food and the singers.”

Some of the residents already attend a weekly Golden Years lunch on Tuesday and Mrs Freeth said more will attend as a result of the Christmas party.
