YOU'RE sweating, there's a thudding in your ears and you're checking out everyone else's moves: in a way, going clubbing is pretty similar to working out.

Now a Wantage gym has had a potentially genius idea to combine the two – by running get-fit sessions in a nightclub.

The Fitness Space in Wantage is planning to launch its new club in January, hoping the idea will be music to the ears of anyone wanting to shed a little festive weight.

In the sessions at Wantage's Shush nightclub, fitness fans will do a little boxercise, swing the kettle bells and work their core, all while a DJ spins the latest pumping hits.

Fitness Space general manager Reuben Davy said: "It's going to be the first session of its kind in Wantage and we're going to base it all around the experience – being in a nightclub you're going to get a different vibe from that live atmosphere.

"It will have that social feel and people will be able to gather before or after getting a workout."

In the fitness spirit, Shush will also be serving non-alcoholic 'mocktails' made with refreshing and nutritious fruit juices.

The Fitness Space said it has not yet decided how much the classes will cost for non-members, but said they will be included in most membership packages, which start at £44.99 a month.

The company is hosting a taster night at Shush on Wednesday, December 13, from 6.30pm.
