A WHEELCHAIR footballer has thanked a Didcot charity for buying him a £9,000 new chair.

Sam Bailey from Wantage bought his Strike Force Powerchair football chair with help from Changing Lives.

The 20-year-old, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, set up a crowd funding web page in August to try to raise the cash needed, and was then approached by the charity which ended up covering most of the cost.

Mr Bailey, who plays for Reading Powerchair football club and is pictured here using the chair at a cup match in Reading, described it as 'an elite piece of sports equipment'.

Changing Lives was set up by Val Prior of East Hendred.
