SHE was an energetic grandmother who never sat still for one moment.
That was how the family of Pamela Davenport, who died in a crash on the A420 at Longworth a week ago, have described the 79-year-old.
Mrs Davenport lived in Hinton Waldrist, near Wantage, about a mile from the scene of the crash.
She died after her Audi A3 hatchback collided with another Audi A3 on the eastbound carriageway, near the Longworth turn at 12.50pm last Saturday.
Police said no arrests had been made and that they were still urging witnesses to come forward with information about the accident.
In a statement released through the police, her granddaughter, Olivia Fairbank, said: “At nearly 80 years old, Pamela was an energetic, efficacious granny who never sat still for one moment.
“There were always so many things that she wanted to pack into her day, and often did not have time to fit them all in.
“Her love was art, which took her to many parts of the world, gardens, her dog and all things beautiful.
“Pam was hugely sociable and had a vast array of friends, who were a great support to her in times of real personal grief, to all she was utterly grateful.
“She was also known by the family as a ‘terrier’, digging deep to find solutions to problems or help when it was needed, when others would have given up or thought that an answer was not possible.
“She was married to Commander Oliver Lascelles for 35 years before he died, with whom she had two daughters, Harriet and Nicola, who is currently suffering from a brain tumour.
“More recently she married Antony Davenport aged 83, who sadly died after three years of their marriage.
“She will be gravely missed by all those innumerable friends and family for her fun, loving, storytelling, vivacious and caring character, and thoughts and memories of her will always be carried in our hearts.”
Anyone with information about the crash should call Sgt Bill Sykes, who is in charge of the investigation, on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
