ABBI Wilkinson and Chloe Davies celebrated their school’s 50th birthday by travelling back in time to the swinging ’60s.

Freeland Primary School, built in 1964, invited parents and teachers to join the psychedelic stunts on Friday afternoon.

All the children joined in a concert, dancing and singing along to the hits of the decade from Bob Dylan to the Austin Powers theme tune, Soul Bossa Nova.

Abbi, six, from Barnard Gate, near Witney, said: “I really enjoyed dressing up.

When can we do it again?”

After their concert, the children buried a time capsule for 2014, not to be dug up for another 60 years.

They also dug into a 50th birthday cake.

Abbi’s teacher, Katie Franklin, said: “It was a wonderful day.”
