EIGHT-year-old Caitlin James got her motor running before heading out on the Scalextric track.

She was taking part in a Scalextric Challenge to raise money for St John’s Church in Carterton.

The event on Saturday included a tombola and home-made cakes for sale.

Contestants aimed to do five laps of the course in the fastest time.

Caitlin, a Carterton Primary School pupil, missed out on first place. She said: “I did it in two minutes and 20 seconds. I had a good time. Before I wasn’t a really big fan of Scalextric but now I have got into it.”
