THE Liberal Democrats have selected their candidate for Witney to contest the May 2015 General Election.

Andy Graham was confirmed as the candidate to fight Prime Minister David Cameron at a members’ meeting on Friday.

Mr Graham who lives in Churchill, near Chipping Norton, is a teacher and writer. He was a Lib Dem councillor in Hertfordshire before moving to Oxfordshire.

He represented the Lib Dems in the recent Clacton by-election which UKIP candidate Douglas Carswell won.

Mr Graham came fourth in the poll, with 1.4 per cent of the votes.

He said: “It is a great privilege to have been selected to represent my local party, and exciting to be standing against the Prime Minister.”

Other candidates already picked are Duncan Enright for Labour, Stuart MacDonald for the Green Party and Clive Peedell for the National Health Action Party.

UKIP have yet to select a candidate.
