A MAN missing for four days had been sectioned and detained at Littlemore Hospital following a violent attack, it has emerged.

Police earlier today said they were worried about Daniel Wilson after he went missing from Littlemore on Friday because he required medication.

It has now been confirmed the 33-year-old was sectioned after biting a man he had threatened in Witney and dragging him over broken glass. He also headbutted a police officer following his arrest, Oxford Crown Court heard in January.

Judge Gordon Risius - who was told Wilson was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia - made hospital and restriction orders under the Mental Health Act, ruling he should stay in Littlemore Hospital until he was deemed no longer a risk to other people.

He also said the attack in Witney in December 2012 had come when Wilson was no longer taking his medication.

However, police spokeswoman Rhianne Pope said: "Following consultation with medical professionals, he has been assessed and we do not believe he poses any danger to the public.

"If members of the public see him, we ask that they call 101."

Wilson is described as 6ft tall with short, dark blonde hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, beige shoes and a black and white cowboy-style jacket.

Pc Ashley Gardner said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has seen Daniel since Friday or knows where he is.

“We’re concerned about the length of time he has been missing because he requires medication, which he has not taken since last week.

“Daniel has links to both Oxford and Witney, so if anyone sees him, please call us.”
