A MAN has been arrested after a 20-year-old needed hospital treatment when someone smashed a glass in his face, police said.

The attack happened in Witney after an argument in Nortons Bar in Langdale Gate on Sunday at about 1.15am.

Officers said the victim was left with a deep cut on his left eyebrow, which required five stitches at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington.

Police said the attacker is white, 18 to 20 years old, of medium build, with blonde hair that was shaved at the sides and styled on the top, and a pale complexion.

He was wearing navy blue shorts, white Adidas trainers and a black polo shirt with purple and white stripes on the collar and sleeve edges.

PC Luke Harris said: “This kind of assault is rare in Witney and I would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to bring to justice those responsible.

“We like to appeal to anyone who was in Nortons Cafe Bar at the time of the incident to please get in touch.”

A 20-year-old from Witney was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He has been bailed until April 19.
