A man in his early 20s robbed the Co-op store in Eynsham by using what is believed to have been a knife concealed in a sock, police said.
The man entered the store just before 7pm last Wednesday and threatened a member of staff with the weapon before tipping the contents of the till into his trousers.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident, which saw a “substantial amount” of money taken from the store.
Police said the man was wearing black peaked beanie hat and a black scarf that covered his mouth and nose, a white t-shirt with short black sleeves and large grey tigers face on the front with black trousers and bright blue trainers.
He ran out of the store onto High Street and then Lombard Street.
