A Grade I listed bridge in West Oxfordshire will be closed for up to 21 days after a lorry crashed into it.

The bridge suffered structural damage in the incident at 9.30am today.

It crosses the River Thames as part of the A4095, which links Faringdon with Carterton.

It is believed to have been built in 1200 and could be the oldest bridge across the river.

In 1387 there was a major battle at the site between troops loyal to Richard II and an army led by Henry Bolingbroke, Early of Derby, later Henry IV.
