WORLD music and the smell of exotic food filled Wood Farm Primary School as it hosted its annual international evening.

The event, which celebrated the diversity of pupils at the school, invited children and their families to enjoy an evening of entertainment.

Parents brought a range of foods from their cultures and were able to enjoy children demonstrating karate and a performance from the choir.

Assistant headteacher Louise Holman said: “International evening is a chance to celebrate the different cultures in our school.

“We have got about 35 or 36 different languages spoken in our school and we have children and families from all over the world.

“Each class has a different country to find out about linked to a child in that class. My class looked at The Gambia. The children looked at their food and sports and where they are in the world.

“Then we displayed the work that we have done at international evening.

“Children are given a ‘passport’ and they can go around and find out more info and record it.”

The event on Thursday attracted more than 200 people.
