An elderly woman has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following a 50mph head-on crash near Brize Norton.

South Central Ambulance Service were called at 5.34pm to reports of a two-car collision in Brize Norton Road between the A40 and the village. 

SCAS Spokesman David Gallagher said the estimated speed of the crash was 50mph and that the woman was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with chest pains.

A young man was checked over at the scene for minor injuries but was not taken to hospital.

The B4477 between Brize Norton and the A40 is currently closed in both directions.
