PUPILS rocked out in delight when they were presented with two electric guitars as this year’s school Christmas present.

Youngsters at Charlbury Primary School were amazed when two Squier Fender electric guitars and amplifiers were unveiled at an assembly this week.

Finn Davies, seven, was among the first to try out one of the new instruments, which were bought by the school through money raised from a sponsored silent disco.

Finn’s dad, Ian Davies, helped raise money for the guitars, along with friend Rebecca Renfrew. The kit as a whole, some of which was bought second hand, cost about £300.

He said: “We raised about £500 through a sponsored silent disco. We did it as a marathon, dancing for four hours.”

Mr Davies and Mrs Renfrew both run charity Guerilla Disco Collective, which raises money for children’s education, especially music and dance.

The pair hope to raise more money to go towards Charlbury Pre-School and the charity Downs Syndrome Oxford.
