EAGLE-EYED pupils at a school in Witney are on the lookout for all types of feathered creatures this month, as part of a nationwide birdwatching scheme.
Pupils at Queen Emma’s Primary School are taking part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch until February 12, an educational event that gets classes closer to nature.
Children of all ages at the school in Burwell Drive have already dug out their binoculars and clipboards to see what they can spot in their playground.
Year four pupil Alice Doran said: “I think the birdwatch is really good because we can learn more about birds and experience how they sound. I think that birds are really beautiful and graceful.”
Year five teacher Sarah Adair said: “Every class will be going out for about an hour, to take part in a bird count. The idea is to encourage children to appreciate nature and wildlife and respect the environment.”
