SCORCHING weather and stunning performances drew the crowds to Riverside Festival for a weekend of live music.

Almost 5,000 revellers passed through the gates of the event in Charlbury on Saturday and large numbers were also present yesterday.

The crowd enjoyed performances from bands including Fuji, Crystallite, Might Redox and Bright Works across three stages.

As always the festival was free to enter, drawing music lovers from far and wide.

Speaking yesterday, organiser Andy Pickard said: "It has been lovely, it has not been stressful at all.

"I am pleased it has gone so well.

"We got nice whether for it, there was a bit of drizzle today but the crowds have not been put off at all.

"All the headliners were really excellent and with the stage lit up it was really superb."

Mr Pickard auctioned off 100 papier mache dogs, which he made, to raise funds for mental health charity Oxfordshire Mind.

The dogs also made an appearance two weeks ago at the Cowley Road Carnival and have drawn the attention of plenty of people across Oxfordshire.

He said: "We have been taking names and email addresses so we can sell them off at the end of the festival season.

"People have really fallen in love with them."

He said he has already set his sights on hosting the festival successfully again in 2017, with dates provisionally booked.
