THE World Pooh Sticks Championships have been recognised has one of the quirkiest events in the country.
The competition in Witney was named by holidaylettings.co.uk in its "12 brilliant (but bonkers) competitions in Britain", alongside the notorious cheese rolling event in Shropshire and the Big Sheep Grand National in Bideford.
Website spokesman Jack Johnson said Pooh Sticks was "so popular and so quirky, it had to make the list".
He added: "People come from all over to take part in the World Pooh Sticks Championships.
"What’s truly great about it is that anyone can play. It’s a really fun day out, perfect for all the family."
