FIVE vehicles were involved in a crash of the A40, closing the road for more than an hour near Burford.
Firefighters were scrambled to the section of the carriageway just north of the turn to Westwell at about 12.20pm.
Crews found no one trapped when they arrived. A number of people had injuries but did not require hospital treatment, a spokesman said.
Because of the need to clear damaged cars, the road was partially closed for more than an hour.
Incident commander CM Crockford said: "With the large number of vehicles involved in this incident it was lucky that no one sustained any significate injuries.
"The cause of this incident is currently under investigation by the Thames Valley Police, but Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to highlight this collision as a timely reminder to drivers of the importance of wearing seat belts and making sure drivers concentrate on the road at all times."
