AN elderly woman involved in a crash on the A44 was taken to hospital with 'potentially serious' injuries.

A van and a lorry crashed this afternoon near Kiddington in West Oxfordshire, just north of Woodstock, leaving three passengers in need of hospital treatment.

The road is shut both ways between the B4027 Glympton turn-off and the B4022, while recovery works take place.

Michelle Archer, spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service, said two rapid response crews and three ambulances were sent out at 4.17pm after the crash.

She said: "An elderly female has potentially serious injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe."

An elderly male and another woman were also taken to the Headington hospital, thought the extent of their injuries is not yet clear.
