A PUB that was dusted with fake snow and turned into a film set earlier this year was seen by millions as it graced television screens.

The George and Dragon pub in Long Hanborough, West Oxfordshire, starred in the Vodafone Christmas advert in which a group play charades by video-calling their friend who is stuck on a broken-down bus.

It made its debut during the Pride of Britain Awards show on ITV1 last night, prompting excitement from villagers and pub landlord James Brooks.

He said: "We got quite a lot of interest. They were looking at the area for venues and came in for lunch and said they really liked the pub. They were looking for a Cotswolds country look.

"They paid to close the pub down for a day and we had a lot of people here. It was a bit bizarre because there were blue skies and leaves on the trees but it was all covered in snow. It was really interesting to see the amount of people involved in making it.

"It was great to see it on TV. It looked beautiful in the snow. It's good for locals and for the village to see their pub on TV."

Last month the pub's beer garden was transformed into a winter wonderland by production crew Another Film Company.

The snow-capped roof tiles and spindly tree branches were added in digitally.
