TANDEM Festival organisers say they have sold a record number of early tickets to this year's event.

Having sold out of its 'super early bird' tickets for the June weekend, they have now release more standard early bird tickets available until March 21.

That is despite the fact that the organisers only yesterday announced their first live music act, this year's headliner Tantz - a 'klezmer/ Balkan beats/ gypsy jazz' band from Leeds.

The 2018 instalment of the ecologically-themed festival, being held for a second year at Lower Farm, Ramsden, West Oxfordshire, will take place June 22 - 24.

With no other acts officially announced, the team yesterday urged local and national bands to keep applying for performance slots, as well as asking stall holders to get in touch.

However they still promised that this year's line-up would be 'once again an exciting mix of music from all over the world'.

This year's event will be the fourth Tandem Festival.

The first two were held at Hill End Outdoor Education Centre near Farmoor but the third instalment in 2016 was cancelled entirely because of spiralling security costs.

The festival then returned last year in the new location.

Describing their event the organisers said: "Cycle powered, volunteer-run and community led, Tandem brings you different worlds of music, art, talks, workshops, film, dance and food."
