THE owners of Oxford Mail 'Best Pub' nominee The Jolly Postboys have opened their second pub, in West Oxfordshire.

Local duo Drew Brammer and George Harwood-Dallyn reopened Eynsham's Red Lion on Tuesday.

The pair have entered into a joint investment with Hawthorn Leisure for the project and will serve a rotating selection of craft beers and fresh, homemade food.

The Jolly Postboys, in Florence Park Road, Oxford, was shortlisted as one of eight venues in the Good Pub category of the Oxford Mail and Times' Food Awards.

It was described by judges as a 'fun, passionate, community-focused pub serving delicious fare from stews, curries and pies to tapas and sharing boards'.

The Red Lion is Eynsham's oldest pub and has been renovated to give a contemporary twist to the original features.

Mr Harwood-Dallyn, co-Partner, said: “We are hugely excited to be opening our second site. Drew and I are both incredibly passionate about pubs.

"This is the second site in our grand conservation efforts to save the Great British pub and we’re very excited about it.

"In our pubs we want to make memories and for our guests to walk away and talk about how much fun they’ve had. We love getting to know the regulars and look forward to welcoming Eynsham locals.”

Punters can sit on church pews or German Keller benches and enjoy full table service. Owners also hope the beer garden will attract football fans ahead of the World Cup.

The bar will feature 10 taps with a rotating selection of craft beer from breweries all over the country, with a focus on independent British suppliers and producers, including Little Ox Brewery, based just over a mile from the Red Lion.

Local supplier First Class Products provide the wine options and Samuelsons of Witney the soft drinks.

Diners can chose from À La Carte or sharing boards menus, while on Sundays, vegetarian choices and sharing chickens are on offer alongside traditional lunches.

Andrew Parker, operations director at Hawthorn Leisure, commented: “Drew and George have a fantastic energy and passion for pubs. They absolutely have the right skills and experience to run a great pub and I’m sure The Red Lion will become a great asset to Eynsham.”

The pub is open seven days a week, 10am-11pm.
