London Welsh 15, London Irish 9
FIVE penalties from Gordon Ross were enough for London Welsh to secure a vital Aviva Premiership victory over London Irish at Oxford's Kassam Stadium today.
Fly half Ross did not miss a kick, but Irish had to play 70 minutes with 14 men after No 8 Chris Hala'ufia was red-carded for what was ruled to be a dangerous tackle on Seb Jewell.
Irish's points came via two penalties from full back Tom Homer and one from fly half Ian Humphreys, but Welsh could have won by more.
Most notably, scrum half Tyson Keats failed to gather and ground the ball when it looked easier to score.
However, Welsh will take a win that lifted them to 13 points above the drop zone.
