RUGBY UNION: Nicholl stars in Grove demolition

GUY Nicholl bagged five tries and a yellow card in Grove’s 62-7 demolition of Tadley.

Wing Nicholl pounced for his first on five minutes, full back Roger Sevier converting.

Nicholl was then sin-binned for a dangerous tackle, but Roger Sevier’s penalty made it 10-0.

Centre Nick Sevier burst through for try No 2 on 30 minutes.

Scores from hooker Steve Dixey, No 8 Ben Nicholl and Guy Nicholl’s second try, all converted by Roger Sevier, made it 38-0 at the break.

Guy Nicholl ran in his third and fourth tries, Roger Sevier converting the former, but Tadley replied through full back Gareth Redding’s interception try, converted by Brad Ineson.

A fifth try from Guy Nicholl, plus one from prop Martyn Walsh, converted by Roger Sevier, sealed Grove’s win.

Leaders Grove remain two points clear of Milton Keynes, whom they host in a potential title showdown on Saturday, March 23.

Wallingford are just two points above the relegation zone after a 38-0 defeat at Aylesbury.

Jim Dodds (2), Michael Durose, Liam d’Almeida, Scott McKenzie and Jonny Burgess scored tries for Aylesbury, with James Woodfall converting four Alchester lost 45-0 at fourth-placed Buckingham.
