Oxford United will be well backed at Roots Hall tomorrow, with a large travelling contingent heading to Essex.
The game is the first Ultimate Support Away Day, which is looking to build on the success of a fan-led initiative aimed at boosting the atmosphere at United’s home games.
When contacted yesterday, the club expected 700-800 U’s fans to make the trip to Southend United.
But as the game is not all-ticket, the number in the away end could rise with those paying on the day.
Joe Nicholls, who is behind the idea, hopes tomorrow’s trip is the first of many bumper away days for United supporters.
He said: “The better the day is, and the more everyone gets behind it, the bigger the chance that it can happen again.
“I will be working hard to spread the word and create a buzz.”
