CHIPPING Norton maintained a strong grip on second place in the BB&O Premier Division with a 44-5 victory at Harwell.

Matt Dawson, Barry Nutt and Matty King all grabbed try braces for Chippy.

Sam Jackson and Tom Hall also crossed over, with Nutt converting two and seeing another three efforts strike a post.

Harwell replied with a try from Matt Rushden.

Chippy have a five-point advantage over third-placed Swindon College.

Bicester were left to rue missed kicks in a 20-17 defeat at Hungerford.

Dan Spencer squandered two very kickable penalties and a conversion, while Yamika Banda was off target with a straight-forward penalty in the second half.

Full back Ian Alexander put Hungerford ahead with a penalty, but Bicester replied with a try from flanker Niall Morrow.

Alexander converted a try from No 8 Max Andrews and added a penalty after the break.

Hungerford went 20-5 ahead when Dom Taylor finished a slick move, Alexander converting.

Spencer gave Bicester hope with a try that Banda converted and was driven across for a second effort that secured a losing bonus point.

Didcot lost 28-8 at home to Aldermaston in the BB&O Championship, with Marcus Grimes scoring a try and Paul Costello adding a penalty.
