Oxford United Ladies are celebrating after being handed a home draw against Everton in the FA Women’s Cup.

The U’s are in the fifth round for the first time following a 2-1 win against Newcastle United at the Kassam Stadium on Sunday.

Their reward is a clash with Everton, who finished third in the Super League last season.

It means United’s ladies will be up against a side which contains England internationals Jill Scott and Rachel Brown.

First-team coach Luke Taylor was thrilled with the draw and is hoping to build on Sunday’s attendance.

He said: “It’s what we wanted – to pitch ourselves against a top flight side to see how far away we are from them.

“It was great to see 700 people come to watch the Newcastle game, it highlighted female football within the county.”

The tie will be played at the Kassam Stadium again on Sunday, March 17.
