Oxford United set for awards ceremony

THERE could be more than one celebration for Oxford United this weekend, as the trip to Northampton Town is followed on Sunday by the Football League Awards.

The U’s are on a shortlist of six for Family Club of the Year, which will be announced at a ceremony in London on Sunday night.

It is the third year in a row the club have been recognised in the area.

Peter Rhoades-Brown, United’s community officer, is also a contender, getting to the final three in the Unsung Hero award.

United’s players missed out on the League Two player of the year prize, which will be contested by Tom Pope (Port Vale), Jamie Cureton (Exeter) and Gary Jones (Bradford).
