Horspath seamer Patrick Foster will finally make his competitive debut for Oxfordshire in their Minor Counites Cricket Association Trophy Group 1 match against Cornwall at Challow & Childrey on Sunday (11am).

The former Durham UCCE bowler was called into the squad for their match against Hertfordshire last Sunday, but did not make the starting line-up for a game Oxon lost by seven wickets.

Foster has now been named in the actual X1, and so is certain to play in the crunch game, where victory would secure Oxfordshire’s progress into the quarter-finals.

They make two enforced changes, with bowling all-rounders Daniel Rowe and David Smith unavailable.

With Banbury’s Ashley Blanchard sidelined by a knee injury, Oxon have brought in Foster and Oxford’s in-form seamer Tom-Geeson-Brown.

“We didn’t bowl as well as we can against Hertfordshire, although they batted really well,” said Oxfordshire coach Rupert Evans.

“We will certainly have to bowl line and length on the good pitch at Challow.”

Oxon wait on the fitness of batsman Lloyd Sabin, who has been troubled by a toe injury. Although both Bedfordshire, who have played just one match, and Hertfordshire can record three wins, they play each other in one game.

So there will be no need for Oxfordshire to resort to net run-rate provided they beat Cornwall, who are then moving on to play Bedfordshire the following day.

Oxfordshire: Kaufman (Old Northamptonians), Shirazi (Aston Rowant), Sabin (Banbury), Hawkes (Banbury), Perkin (Oxford), West (Banbury), Cater (Banbury), Keegan (Henley), Ryan (capt, Banbury), Foster (Horspath), Geeson-Brown (Oxford).
