CRICKET: Briggs efforts are all in vain

Banbury's hopes of challenging for the Oxon Under 17 competition Group A title were dashed when they lost by eight wickets to North Cotswolds.
An unbeaten 78 from Jack Briggs saw Banbury to 141-6 off their 20 overs, but the hosts reached the target in the last over for the loss of two wickets. Darrell Williams led the charge with a well-struck 60.
The win puts North Cotswolds four points behind leaders Great & Little Tew.
In Group B, Minster Lovell kept up their 100 per record with a 50-run win over Cumnor.
An unbeaten 40 from Angus Spittles backed up by 29 from Zak Jarvis saw Minster to 109 5.
In reply, Cumnor were dismissed for 59, Jack Tomes taking 3-13. Harry Ackland top-scored for Cumnor with 22.
