Skipper Ian Crosby believes Oxford are peaking at just the right time as they chase the Division 2 West title.

A 66-run over win over previous leaders Gerrards Cross last week saw Oxford establish a 15-point cushion at the top.

And Crosby, who names an unchanged team for the clash with title rivals Harefield at Roman Way tomorrow, is happy to be in pole position.

He said: “We are playing well and hopefully we are timing our run-in well.

“Harefield are going to be tough. They are in the title race and can still win it.

“Rowant are not out of it yet and Gerrards Cross have Cove, Farnham Royal and Tew to play, so we are going to need to win our games.”

Gloucestershire off-spinner Miles Hammond comes into Aston Rowant’s side for the home game against Dinton after playing for England in the Under 19 series against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

He takes the place of Richard Cook, who broke a finger while batting for Oxfordshire against Devon this week.

Great & Little Tew captain Andy Harris feels one more win will secure his side’s status as they look forward to entertaining Reading.

Spinner Ian Bryan is unavailable, so Robbie Shurmer comes into the side.

Skipper Jimmy Phillips, whose Banbury side are at home to Harpenden, admits they are now only playing for the runners-up spot in Division 1 following last week’s defeat by Slough.

“It is another year where we are playing for second, which is not what we set out to be doing at the start of the season,” he said.

Oxfordshire batsman Nathan Hawkes returns in place of Justin Lambden.
