ANGLING: Drennan and Godwin are Summer League champs

DRENNAN Banbury Gunsmiths Red finished second in the final round of the Oxford Summer League on the Thames at Medley, but took the title overall.
The individual winner was Graham Godwin (Turners) with 34 points. He dropped only two points over the six matches.
The river had virtually no flow for the six teams of six, but the fish were feeding hard and every section was won with double figures.
Richard Rosinski (Sensas A4) drew a peg out of the poplars and had four bream, plus some perch, on an open end feeder filled with groundbait and casters with worm on the hook, to triumph with 18.11.0.
Martin Kirk (Turners) had roach and perch on pole-fished maggot over groundbait for a second-placed 17. 5.0, while John Beesley (Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths) was third with 16.2.0, comprising one bream and some perch on the pole, plus 10lb of roach on the waggler and maggot.
Teams on day: 1 Turners 27pts, 2 Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths Red 25, 3 Drennan Banbury Gunsmiths Blue 24.

Seventeen North Oxford AS members went on their annual outing to a low Stable Lake where Terry Whittington came out on top with 109.12.0 of carp on worm.
He was well clear of venue expert and Predator shop owner, Tony Wright, who weighed in 82.12.0 on mainly meat and paste.
Steve Jackman was third with 60.4.0 off the next peg.
The roach are just starting to show in numbers on the Thames at Sandford and most of the 20 anglers enjoyed a good day’s fishing in Littlemore’s latest match there, the Chairman’s Cup.
Hemp and tares on the waggler secured the third win on the spin for Pete Clarke with an all-roach net of 25.8.0.
Brian Hutchings opted for the same tactics for a second-placed 16.4.0, while Steve Pope was third with an all-roach bag of 12.6.0 on waggler and seed.
A 40-hour carp match held by the Abingdon & Oxford Anglers Alliance at Marlborough Pool was won by David Belcher, with a single fish of 22lb.
David Waddle had a carp of 18.12.0 for second, with Paul Caton’s specimen of 15.13.0 enough for third.
Beehive AC fished for the Freight Shepherd Cup on Panshill’s Wood Lake and were rewarded with over 700lbs hitting the scales.
Kevin Jeacock triumphed with 132.2.0 of carp and chub to pole paste and corn, followed by Barry Radford with 74.2.0 on pole and maggot, and Tim Belcher with 71.14.0 on method feeder and pellet.
