Constable backs Marsh to make Oxford United impression
JAMES Constable is confident fellow striker Tyrone Marsh will make an impact this season.
The 19-year-old made his first appearance of the season as a substitute in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Rochdale.
Marsh is likely to be in the squad travelling to Burton Albion tomorrow and Constable believes his young teammate will contribute regularly during the campaign.
He said: “Ty came in and took his opportunity.
“I thought he did really well and has a good future ahead of him.
“He works hard and that’s what you want as a forward.
“He’s a goalscorer and I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more from him.”
Marsh made his first-team debut last season and opened his account for the U’s against Southend United in January.
Constable, who edged closer to becoming the club’s all-time record scorer last weekend by taking his tally to 96 goals, thinks the teenager has the attributes to succeed.
He said: “It does take me back. He’s raw but can run all day and is a strong lad for his size.
“He holds the ball up well and is desperate to get off the mark.
“He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing. He is always there at training wanting to learn and we try to help as much as we can.
“He obviously has a lot of talent and it’s important we look after him because I’m sure he will get a lot of goals for the club.”
