WOMEN'S CRICKET: Marsh puts Oxford in command
2:00pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in Sport
Oxford finished their ECB League season on a high note with a 95-run victory over Cambridge NCI in their Midlands Division 1 East match at Roman Way.
In a game reduced to 30 overs due to rain, Cambridge soon regretted their decision to insert Oxford as the hosts set off at a cracking pace. Lucy Marsh led the way with a fine 50, and with Heather Lang hitting 38 and Paula Matthews 22, they raced to 172-6.
In reply, opener Karla Durham gave Cambridge a sound start.
But after she was out for 44, wickets began to tumble and the visitors were all out for 77.
Elizabeth Robbins was the pick of the bowlers for Oxford with 3-15, Eliza Goode and Charley Noble chipping in with two wickets apiece.
The result left Oxford fourth in the table.
Scores: Oxford 172-6 (L Marsh 50, H Lang 38), Cambridge NCI 77 (K Durham 44, E Robbins 3-15).
