MOTORSPORT: Grosjean on podium after super drive
10:00am Monday 28th October 2013 in Sport
The drive of the day in the Indian Grand Prix came from Romain Grosjean, of the Enstone-based Lotus team.
The Frenchman, starting 17th on the grid, zoomed all the way up to third behind winner Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.
Grosjean did a one-stop race, running way beyond the maximum number of laps recommended by Pirelli.
He caught his teammate Kimi Raikkonen with four laps to go, and passed his him, but had to give up the place again because he completed the move by running off the track.
Raikkonen then let him pass on team orders. The Finn, struggling to get his tyres to the end, finished seventh.
Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas, from the Grove-based Williams team, came 12th and 16th.
Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi were 17th and 18th in their Banbury-prepared Marussia cars.
Neither Charles Pic nor Giedo van Der garde completed the race for the Leafield-based Caterham outfit.
