DARTS: Corner House spring cup shocks
11:00am Tuesday 5th November 2013 in Sport
CORNER House B pulled off two surprise results to reach the final of the Greene King ODDA men’s Seven-a-side Cup.
Competing in their quarter-final at Marston British Legion, they seemed set to bow out when they trailed 3-0 to Section 3 champions Vikings Social Club. But they staged a dramatic recovery, taking the last four games to edge home 4-3.
That result put them through to a semi-final against Premier Section side Kidlington Green Social Club B, who took the opening game when Joe Palmer beat Mick Kennett.
House hit back to grab a shock 3-1 lead through Richard Reveley, James Harding and Mick O’Leary.
Green levelled, thanks to Sean Holly and John Russell, but in a tense last game, Trevor Ballard defeated Neil Russell to give Corner House A the verdict 4-3.
Earlier, Kidlington were involved in a thrilling quarter-final against Section 1 side Cowley Workers.
Kidlington took a 2-0 lead through Holly and Russell before Workers hit back to go 3-2 ahead, thanks to Dizio Slezak, Phil Cook and Wayland Honour.
The Premier side recovered their composure as Anthony Barrett and Tim Tricker earned them a 4-3 victory.
Goodlake Arms A, from the Premier Section, beat Section 2 outfit Rileys Social Club A 4-0 and met their B team – 4-0 victors over George Bar A – in the other semi-final.
Kevin Barefoot put the A side ahead when he defeated Scott Bennett, but Martin Fowler beat Reg Bowers to level matters.
The A team then sped to a 4-1 triumph, thanks to Ken Baker, Mark Pryde and Chris Hughes.
