Cristian Montano, who had a brief spell on loan at Oxford United, has been arrested as part of a match-fixing probe.
The Oldham Athletic striker is alleged to have tried to get booked in exchange for cash in the first half of the club’s match at Wolverhampton Wanderers in October and offered to take part in another rigging incident.
The investigation, by the Sun on Sunday, claimed that ex-Portsmouth player Sam Sodje allegedly said he could arrange for footballers in the Championship to get themselves a yellow card in return for tens of thousands of pounds.
Montano, who played nine times on-loan with Oxford in 2012, scoring three goals, has been suspended without pay by the League One club.
