DONNINGTON Community Centre A gained immediate revenge with a stunning reversal of form to beat hosts Black Swan 5-4 in Premier & Section 1 of the Greene King ODDA Ladies League.

When the teams met seven days earlier, Swan had raced to a 9-0 whitewash, to leave Donnington smarting.

Any fears of a repeat were ended when they won the opening game as Emma Elliott beat Sue Simms.

The unbeaten Sue Smith and Shaz Thompson put the Swan 2-1 ahead only to see Anne Marks beat Lorraine Singleton to level at 2-2.

Angie Turner put the home side ahead at 3-2 when she beat Emily Baldwin, but Donnington levelled at 3-3 after Rosie Swanton got the better of Chris Thompson.

Donnington won the doubles 2-1 for an astonishng turn-around.

Six Bells C triumphed 5-4 away to Democrats Club in Section 2.

It was a close match the whole way, with a 2-1 pairs success securing the visitors victory.

Bell’s singles winners were Cheryl French, Irene Richardson and Kim Sawyer.

A maximum from Dave Spires sparked Cricketers Arms to a comeback victory at home to Bullnose Morris in Men’s Section 3.

Thanks to victories from Gary Shorter, another maximum man, and Brian Clarke, the visitors sped into as 2-0 lead.

But Morris were then swept aside as wins from Spires (180), Chris Myers, Chris Souch and Martin Andrews plus a 3-0 pairs success gave the Cricketers a stunning 7-2 win.

Simon Ambler defeated Dave Hopkins to give Chequers Inn B an early lead against hosts East Oxford Conservative Club.

But the hosts rallied to ease home 6-3 thanks to a run of five singles wins from Karl Smith, Mick Finney, Bob Biyce, Alan Davies and Ade Bowden.

The best revival of the week came in Section 4, where Catherine Wheel A raced into a 4-0 lead away to Princes of Wales thanks to victories from Butch Bower, Michael Ashburner, Dale Jacobs and Jerome Taylor.

The home side, under extreme pressure hit back, for an unlikely 5-4 success after wins from Ian Griffiths and Craig Belcher plus a clean sweep of the pairs.

Kings Arms trailed three time at home to Cricketers Arms B before securing an exciting 5-4 success thanks to singles victories from from Jamie Tong, Mal Stimpson and Dean Waldron.

Six Bells hit top form for the visit of Crown Inn B, with a 7-2 win, thanks to Robert Firkin, Ashleigh Hewson, Trevor Leach, Andrew Smy and Steve Donaldson winning their singles contests.
