ENGLISH NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH DIVISION 2

ALAN Green blasted a hat-trick as Oxford City Stars produced one of their best performances of the season to win 8-1 at Invicta Mustangs.

Youngster Zach Dolphin and new signing James Pentecost opened their accounts for the club, while Josh Oliver, Mason Wild and Nick Oliver also found the net in Gillingham, Kent.

Josh Oliver opened the scoring in the fifth minute and the visitors never looked back.

Brother Nick quickly doubled the advantage, sweeping round the goal to completely wrong-foot the netminder.

It was 3-0 before the end of the first period, when Wild spun under pressure to fire home spectacularly.

Stars went up a gear after the break, but it took until the 14th minute of the second period to stretch their lead, when Green scored.

Dolphin classily bagged his first for the club, smashing the puck in off the crossbar to make it 5-0, before being mobbed by delighted teammates.

With two Stars men in the penalty box, Mustangs pulled a goal back through Michael Stokes late in the period.

It was not the cue for a dramatic comeback, though, and normal service was resumed in the third period.

Pentecost made it 6-1 with a powerplay goal, before Green added two more to complete his haul.

The victory cemented Stars’ place in the top three, just two points off leaders Slough with games in hand on both sides above them.
