Mick Smith, who ran Tackle and Guns in Ock Street, Abingdon, for many years, has died at the age of 79.
During his time in Oxfordshire, he fished matches for Sutton Courtenay AC and also founded the Beehive club.
His son, Shane, took over the shop when his father moved down to Devizes in Somerset, where he opened another tackle shop, Rod and Reel.
Smith spent five years there before returning to live in Hungerford.
Shane ran Tackle and Guns for three years before it closed because of the recession.
