GLENN Osborn is backing Oxford Rugby League to make big strides this season after re-signing for the Iffley Road-based club.

Front-row forward Osborn made ten appearances during Oxford’s debut campaign in Kingstone Press Championship One, which saw them reach the play-offs.

The former Gateshead Thunder and London Skolars player said: “These are exciting times to be at the club with lots of changes going on.

“I think we can really kick on this season.

“Last season started off well then tailed off in the middle, but we picked it back up at the end and were disappointed not to go further in the play-offs.”

Osborn added: “I thought I had a good season, I was injury free and played the majority of games.

“We want to finish higher than last year, but we all know it is going to be a lot tougher, with the teams coming down and the current teams in our league strengthening their squads further.”

Oxford head coach Tony Benson said retaining Osborn was “great for the club”.

He added: “Glenn is a very experienced player from the south.

“He is consistently good going forward and gains us metres.

“He can also use the ball when needed and is skilful for a front-rower.”
