Khyber Kim, runner-up to Binocular in the 2010 Champion Hurdle, could run at the Heythrop Hunt meeting at the new Cocklebarrow Racecourse, which is situated off the A40 between Burford and Northleach, on Sunday (11am).

Despite the recent heavy rain, the course has taken the deluge well, and near-perfect ground is expected for the fixture.

And among a huge entry is Khyber Kim, who bolted up under Camilla Henderson on his pointing debut at Cottenham a fortnight ago, and can follow up in the PPORA Club Members Race for Novice Riders.

Now a 12-year-old, the gelding recorded his biggest wins under National Hunt Rules in the 2010 Aintree Hurdle and the 2009 International Hurdle at Cheltenham when trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies.

Gold Cup-winning jockey Sam Waley-Cohen may ride Rumbavu in the Lord Ashton of Hyde’s Cup – one of the sport’s four ‘classics’.

The eight-year-old, trained and owned by Waley-Cohen’s father, Robert, at Edgehill, near Banbury, took his winning sequence between the flags to four at Larkhill last Sunday.

He could bid to regain the trophy for the father-and-son combination six years after Irilut carried their chocolate and orange silks to victory at Dunthrop, near Chipping Norton, in 2008.

The three-mile-and-six furlong contest could also feature Charles Bruce, who scored at Cheltenham in May, and Minella Stars, an impressive winner at Chaddesley Corbett over Christmas.

That’s Rhythm, winner of the 2013 AGA Ladies Open Final at Stratford and unbeaten under rider Page Fuller, is set to bid to qualify for this year’s renewal in the Ladies’ Open.

Zara Phillips could also be in attendance as she has three entries, including Devils Boys in the restricted race.
