SUTTON Courtenay AC managed to avoid the floods by staging their Dawson Memorial Cup on the Abingdon Town backwaters, with the Otneys stretch of the Thames deemed inaccessible.

Six fished and everyone weighed in with roach, producing some excellent returns considering the conditions.

Gary Stafford took top spot with 23lb, followed by Alan Hewer with 10.2.0 and Ian Higgins with 9.7.0.

A good field of 19 anglers gathered for the North Oxford AS Committee v Members match on the Oxford Canal at Aristotle Lane.

It proved a rather disappointing affair, with 2.15.0 sufficient to take top spot.

That went to Jason Bean, with roach and perch on bread and worm.

Using similar tactics, Maurice Winstone finished second with 2.9.8, just ahead of Bob Yeoman (RAF Garbolino), who had a bag of bits on bread for 2.9.0.

Tackley Estates AC were on Stable Lake, and it did not disappoint on a cold day.

Anthony Alder topped the ten-strong entry with 49.8.0 of carp on pole and maggot, beating Geoff Broome’s 45.8.0 of carp taken on legered maggot. Tim Wray was third with 37.8.0 on legered mixed baits.
