WALLINGFORD Under 15s have become the club’s first junior side in their 47-year history to win a premier county league title.

A 10-7 victory over Chinnor earned unbeaten Wallingford the Oxfordshire Under 15 League Division 1 title, finishing seven points ahead of Chinnor.

Lead coach Richard Pearse said: “A number of the squad were new to rugby this season, and through their hard work and commitment have become some of the best players in the county.

“We have had a number of players injured, but the depth of ability in the squad has enabled us to prevail.”

Meanwhile, Banbury clinched the Oxfordshire Under 16 League Division 1 title with a 38-0 victory at Wallingford.

Banbury finished the campaign with a 100 per cent record. In ten years of county action they have lost just one match.

George Grieve and Reece Lines scored two tries, with Toby Chapman and Jake Anderson also going over. Jack Briggs converted four.
