KATHERINE Hawes’s challenge in the World Indoor Senior Championships ladies’ singles came to an end with a 2-0 defeat by Wales’s Betty Morgan in the quarter-finals in Jersey.
The Oxfordshire star, representing England, conceded seven shots over the first two ends of the opening set, which she lost 10-8, before going down 9-3 in the second.
Hawes and Oxford & District teammate Carole Galletly face Egham’s Doreen Hankin and Pauline Clark in the last 16 of the English Indoor Bowling Association’s national pairs competition at Melton & District IBC, Leicestershire, tomorrow.
