OXFORD & District’s Katherine Hawes and Carole Galletly’s bid for glory in the English Indoor Bowling Association’s ladies’ pairs came to an end with defeat in the semi-finals at Melton & District IBC, Leicestershire.
They were beaten 17-11 by City of Ely’s Sarah Seymour and Ellen Falkner, who went on to win the title.
Hawes and Galletly had opened their challenge with a 23-16 victory over Egham’s Doreen Hankin and Pauline Clark in the first round.
They then eased past Blackpool Newton Hall’s Sue Kearsley and Janice Gower 20-12 in the quarter-finals.
Hawes, Galletly and Jane Murphy’s challenge in the triples proved short-lived with an 15-12 defeat by Egham’s Chrissii Davies, Kylie Hampton and Hankin in the first round.
