Oxfordshire’s Ethan Rose made history by retaining both his under 11 singles and doubles junior titles in English National Age Group Championships the Redbridge Sports Centre, Essex, on Sunday.
Rose, who lives in Oakley and plays at Wheatley Park Sports Centre, has become the first player to retain both titles at this age group.
Rose, whose mother Sue Wright is a former Commonwealth Games squash gold medallist, made his way through the singles final without dropping a set In the final against Lancashire’s Neil Bhabuta, Rose (pictured) took the first game 15-9 and stormed into a 5-0 lead in the second before Babuta levelled the match.
However, Rose took the decider 15-9 to keep his title.
In the doubles final, Rose and partner Alex Green, from Surrey, defeated Babuta and Yorkshire’s William Atkins in two closely fought sets.
